There are three main categories of LED bulb bases: Edison, Double Needle, and Bayonet. Edison base LED bulbs are the most popular, especially when looking for replacement home bulbs

Edison

Edison base LED bulbs are the most popular, especially when looking for replacement household bulbs. Different Edison bases are marked with an E followed by a number indicating the width of the base in millimeters:
E12 = Candelabra base
E14 = Small Edison Screw base
E17 = Intermediate base
E26 = Medium base
E39 = Mogul base

Double needle

Two-pin bases are denoted by a "G" followed by a number indicating the width of the space between the pins. Some of the most popular two-pin bases are the GU5.3 and GU10, which are used with MR16 LED bulbs. The GU5.3 two-pin base simply plugs into the socket, while the GU10 and GU24 base LED bulbs twist and lock into place. In some cases, the numbers are followed by letters indicating how many pins the bulb has. "S" stands for single stitch, "D" stands for double stitch, "T" stands for three stitch, and "Q" stands for four stitch.

Bayonet

Bayonet mount LED bulbs have grooves on the side of the mount to lock the bulb in place. There are usually two different types of bayonet bases, single contact (SC) or double contact (DC), which indicates whether there is one or two contacts on the end of the bulb for electrical connection
